Carmen’s Cause began as a simple way to connect victims and survivors of abuse, assault, stalking and domestic violence with the resources they need.

The QR Code

Through the use of a discreet QR code, officers who respond to DV calls are able to streamline paperwork and deliver important information to victims. The goal is to consolidate data into one location, increase efficiency for law enforcement, and provide access to resources to help those who are impacted.

Trainings

For those in the northern portion of Mecklenburg County (Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson, North Charlotte), several trainings will be offered annually. These may include, but are not limited to: SPARC (stalking awareness), NCCADV Advocates Training, presentations by Caitlyn’s Courage (House Bill 1023) and Mental Health First Aid.

Retreats

In partnership with Equuvation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Carmen’s Cause will offer annual Resilience Retreats. These opportunities will provide free and confidential wellness retreats for victims and survivors of abuse, assault, stalking and domestic violence. To provide safety for the participants of this program, 2023 dates are not publicly listed. Contact Equuvation for more info.

The Story

Currently working as a Police Detective, the founder of Carmen’s Cause has a passion for helping victims of domestic violence and stalking. Carmen, a magnificent, loyal mare, walked alongside the founder through times of trauma ultimately offering her the ability to recover and heal. Carmen's Cause was developed to provide a connection to resources for victims, law enforcement, and the community.
